This is something I know Trekkies have been waiting for. Wood Expressions, Inc. is going to be releasing an official 50th Anniversary Star Trek Tridimensional Chess Set at Toy Fair.

The deeper I go down the Star Trek hole, the more excited I get for things like this. Here's what they have to say:

The "Weird Al" Figure We've Been Waiting For is Coming!

Yesterday, "Weird Al" Yankovic and NECA Toys announced via social media that "Weird Al" will be getting his very own action figure!

Coming in at 8", the figure will feature tailored fabric clothing, similar to the toys that helped define the '70s, have two interchangeable heads, so you can go from classic Al to modern Al, and will include a mic and accordion.

I am ridiculously excited about this. NECA has been killing it lately with their nostalgic figures. Home Alone, Nightmare on Elm Street, Contra, and now, "Weird Al"

The expected release date in May 2016. Who else plans on getting one?

Deadpool Shares his Childhood Dreams During Super Bowl 50

It's safe to say that the marketing for the much anticipated Deadpool movie has been amazing.  They all deserve raises.  Seriously, give them mucho money.

So for the Super Bowl trailer, they didn't give us anything really new.  Nothing surprising there because the film is only days away from the release.  However, we did get some great snark from Deadpool himself.

So are you going to see this on Friday?  If you aren't sure, check out the Super Bowl trailer to help you decide.

Independence Day: Resurgence Super Bowl Commercial

Also making a showing at the Super Bowl is an Independence Day: Resurgence trailer.

I haven't really been excited about this, because I don't think we need a sequel, but the trailer looks good, and if you're going to debut a patriotic commercial, there's no better place to do so than at the Super Bowl.

I don't know if I'm 100% sold on the movie, but this has made me more interested. What do you think?

Independence Day: Resurgence opens June 24, 2016

TMNT Trailer Hits Super Bowl 50!

During Super Bowl 50, we got another glimpse at Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.  This won't be hitting theaters until June 3rd, but the trailer gives a few more hints to what to expect in the film.

Normally I avoid anything and everything that has Michael Bay involved.  Still, I grew up on the '90's cartoon and there was a great shot of Rocksteady in this trailer.  Might be worthwhile to see Bebop and Rocksteady on the big screen, despite Bay's involvement.  Check out the trailer and let me know what you think!

X-Men Apocalypse trailer makes a Super Bowl Appearance!

Not to be outdone, Fox shared the X-Men: Apocalypse trailer during the trailer-palooza that is Super Bowl 50.

To be honest, I wasn't a big fan of Days of Future Past, so I was hesitant about Apocalypse.  I am willing to admit that this was a pretty good trailer.  I was even pleased with the quick glimpse at Olivia Munn's Psylocke.  But make sure to check it out for yourself!

Batman and Lex Luthor Appear in Commercials During the Super Bowl

Not to be outdone by Marvel releasing a Captain America trailer, Warner Bros. has teamed up with Turkish Airlines (of all people) to promote Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice with a little help from Bruce Wayne and Lex Luthor.

Turkish Airlines is smart because not only are they flying to Gotham and Metropolis, but they're including handy travel guides to get around the cities.

Review: Bill & Ted's Excellent Comic Book Archive

By Reboot

In the last week, BOOM! Studios released all of the Bill and Ted comics that Marvel did back in the early 90's that were written and drawn by Evan Dorkin. BOOM! has had the rights for at least the last couple of years and have now finally put it all together in one, oversized hardcover volume called Bill & Ted's Excellent Comic Book Archive. Now, I haven't even thought about Bill and Ted for years let alone watched or read it, but BOOM! Studios has been making good decisions and Evan Dorkin is one of my favorite people in comics so I had to give this a read through.

[IGH] At The Movies: Review of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

If you were going to come up with the most ridiculous premise for a big-budget Hollywood film, you’d be hard-pressed to come up with a better one than Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.  Although the title sounds like it came from a round of Cards Against Humanity, the story has a surprisingly solid premise and makes for a fun and unique movie experience.

You’ve probably heard of the literary classic Pride & Prejudice. Originally published more than two hundred years ago in 1813, Jane Austen's beloved classic novel tells the story of Elizabeth Bennet as she struggles with the societal expectations put upon her in 19th century England. So how in the world do we go from navigating social customs of differing classes to zombie apocalypse?  It actually all comes back to that fantastic title.

Jason Rekulak, the publisher of Quirk Books, was working on parody ideas by combining classic pop-culture character troupes (Ninjas, Pirates, Zombies) with literary classics whose rights are in public domain. When he stumbled across the idea of “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” the idea stuck and he shared it with writer Seth Grahame-Smith. Seth took the original work and created an alternate reality where he could incorporate not only the zombie apocalypse, but a heavy infusion of Asian martial arts and weaponry.

In honor of Star Trek's 50th Anniversary, ReedPOP and CBS Consumer Products are joining forces to give us all they've got in the form of an all-new, original Star Trek fan experience.

I am really excited about this, because unlike Wilderowens, I am a recent Trek lover. What can I say? I grew up in a Star Wars home. But I am loving what I'm seeing. I've watched all the movies, but I really hadn't done much with the shows until recently. I can't tell you how badly I'm slapping myself for not doing this sooner. And that's why I'm so excited about it ST: MNY. This will be the first time I can truly be a part of this amazing community. My goal is to try and finish all the shows, yes, including Enterprise, by Mission. I'm not sure I'll be able to do it, but I'm going to try. So, while I go and watch a few more episodes of Next Gen, you should read the press release and learn more.

[IGH] At The Movies: Review of Batman: Bad Blood

Taken at the Batman: Bad Blood World Premiere in NYC

By Reboot

This past Tuesday, I had the pleasure of attending the world premiere of Batman: Bad Blood with some of the other [IGH]ers. They didn’t allow any food or drink in the theater, which is always a bad start when it comes to a movie viewing, but I still had a good time! The movie itself was fun and definitely had moments that shined. I had a few qualms with it as well.

Real quick before we dive in, here’s are the basics. Bad Blood is the third installment in the DC Batman Animated Movie continuity. It’s an original continuity for these movies that’s outside the DC Batman adaptation like Batman: Year One or Batman: The Dark Knight Parts I and II. These movies started with Batman and Son, followed up by Batman vs Robin. Much of the storyline for all three of these movies so far has borrowed from Grant Morrison and Scott Snyder’s Batman tales. In this installment, without getting all spoilery, Batman is in trouble and needs the help of Nightwing, Robin, Batwoman and Batwing to get through his toughest challenge yet.  For more details, check out the trailer.
