Happy 4th of July!!!

It's Independence Day!!! A day of barbecues, fireworks, ball games, and fun times with family and friends. But let's not forget what today is really about - celebrating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence thereby making today USA Day! So to celebrate, here's Felicia Day and Tom Lenk.

And if that doesn't put you in the patriotic spirit, here's Captain America doing what he does best.

For all of us at [IGH] have a happy, healthy, safe, and fun 4th of July! And don't forget to wear your Pride Pants!

Tom Lenk's Newest Instant Classic

Our very favorite Tom Lenk went with his buddy Andrew Putschoegl to Whistler, British Columbia, to take part in the Olympus 72 Hour Filmmaker Challenge. They had to handle the concept, writing, shooting, and editing a 5-minute short film in less than three days.  Take a look at their newest opus, Ladybeast.

IGH at the Movies: Cabin In The Woods

Cabin In The Woods is the latest piece from Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard. It's a horror/thriller about five college kids that go stay at a cabin....in the woods. I would give you more to the synopsis, but it would spoil it for you. Really, this film is filled with so much interweaving detail that it is hard to talk about! Basically I can say someone dies.

I tend to get so into movies that I stopped watching horror for my sanity. I only broke this rule because of Joss. So glad I did. This is such a good movie that it was worth the scared feeling. It is a film that I am still thinking about, even days later. CitW just stays with you, like a fungus you have grown to love.

The acting was spot on, with lines delivered right and sold perfectly. My particular faves were Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford. They both stood out in their roles and conveyed varying emotions at the drop of a hat. This film is also jam-packed with Whedon staples, including a brief scene with the intern , played by Tom Lenk!

So go see this, even if you are terrified. (My cure for being scared is watching a few episodes of Community.) Totally worth the money and time to check out the Cabin In The Woods.

Why Kickstarter is Awesome

Kickstarter is awesome. In case you didn't know, Kickstarter provides anyone with a dream a chance to make it come true. They can apply to Kickstarter and when approved, post their idea for the world to see. Anyone who is a fan can pledge some $$$$$ in support of seeing that project come to life. What's the catch? If the project doesn't meet their goal, they don't get funded.

I am happy to say that [insertgeekhere] has been a
strong supporter of Kickstarter projects and every single one
that we have supported has succeeded.

Now one of the benefits of Kickstarter is the rewards. Yes, it may be a little greedy to get a reward for helping out a person but I'm only human. And you know you like presents too. I love presents and this present for helping his campaign succeed is just too awesome. So thanks Kickstarter for connecting us with Tom Lenk!

You can check out the details of his Kickstarter campaign here.

Who Wouldn't Want to Follow Tom Lenk Around?

That is his new project, a documentary following his journey to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.  Lenk, who you must know from Buffy, has been performing his live show, "Nerdgasm," around the country, and he is now taking it abroad.  His friend and film partner, Andrew Putschoegl, will be there to document his journey in all of its nerdy glory.  The only problem is that they need your help.   Check out this fantastic video they put up on Kickstarter:

Both Andrew and Tom have been working together for a while, and even won some awards.  If helping for the sake of helping isn't good enough for you, just check out the goodies for each pledge level.  I am seriously bummed I don't have $10,000 though.  It would be totally worth it to have Tom Lenk in lederhosen washing my car.  Mmmmmm......lederhosen.

This looks like a fantastic journey for Tom, Andrew and all of their fans about the Nerdgasm experience.  Go support them now!
