Ok, if you've read the title (I'm assuming you have), you know that a lie. We're reviewing the Funko X-Men Mystery Minis. The X-Men are my team. They're the ones I related to the most and were my gateway into comics. These Mystery Minis are near and dear to me. Of course, this means I'm about to be subjected to some kind of roller coaster of a ride while looking at these. Was this a good ride filled with happiness or one that left me bitterly disappointed? Keep going to find out.

Funko X-Men Mystery Minis Blind Box Unboxing and Review
Happy 4th of July! It seems weirdly fitting that today's video review is of a lovable group of outsiders who just want to be able to live their lives in peace and without being horribly regulated and restricted. That's right, Matthew at NerdNewsToday and I are reviewing America!

X-Men Apocalypse trailer makes a Super Bowl Appearance!
Not to be outdone, Fox shared the X-Men: Apocalypse trailer during the trailer-palooza that is Super Bowl 50.
To be honest, I wasn't a big fan of Days of Future Past, so I was hesitant about Apocalypse. I am willing to admit that this was a pretty good trailer. I was even pleased with the quick glimpse at Olivia Munn's Psylocke. But make sure to check it out for yourself!

X-Men: Days of Future Past Minimates Box Set
Diamond Select Toys has released new photos of the Marvel Minimates "Days of Future Past" box set, and let me tell you, they look goooood. If you're a fan of minimates or DoFP, you're going to want these.
Press Release:"At this week's Comic Con International in San Diego, Diamond Select Toys and Art Asylum will release their Marvel Minimates box set based on the classic X-Men comic storyline, "Days of Future Past." Published in Uncanny X-Men #141 and 142, the story showed a grim future where mutants were second-class citizens that had been largely exterminated by giant Sentinels, and it became one of the touchstones of the X-Men mythos.
The 4-pack of Minimates captures some of the storyline's most important characters Future Wolverine, Future Kitty Pryde, Mystique and a Future Sentinel. Each stands approximately 2 inches tall with a variety of interchangeable parts and accessories, and we've taken some photos to show off all those parts! Check out the photos in the gallery, then come to booth 2607 on the show floor to pick up a set for $20, or check with your local retailer to see if they can order it in for you!"
More photos after the break

Quicksilver: Top Nine Things You Need to Know
Quicksilver (aka Pietro Maximoff) has been all the talk this past week, with confirmation that the character will be in The Avengers 2 and X-Men: Days of Future Past, thus causing two studios to fight over him. With all this Quicksilver love going on, it’s safe to say he is the new big man on campus. For everyone who isn't completely up to date on this character (I admit my knowledge of Quicksilver is limited), here is a list of his highlights.

Are you an X-Men fan? Have a friend or family member who's one? Looking for a neat gift to give? Look no more! Check out these amazing minimalist prints by designer Harshness.

My favorite is Nightcrawler and Wolverine. There are a few other prints not shown. If you'd like to see them and more, head over to Harshness' Etsy Shop. These are going for $19 and a spectacular poster with all 8 prints is going for $110.
Whether it's for you or someone you know, these look like a great buy. I'd say they were [IGH approved], but I don't have one yet. If anyone wants to me have one... ;-)

Review: X-Men #15.1
It's been a while since my last Point One review! I missed a couple issues that I will go back and review, but I am back on task! This past week, we got a Point One taste of X-Men.
This post is SPOILER-FILLED so if you are allergic to spoilers,
In this issue, the X-Men are stopped in a small village to fulfill the last wish of an old woman. She wanted to be sealed away by magic before her death, and the X-Men's Dani Moonstar wanted to help her friend. The old woman, Awanata, had protected her village by trapping demons within her soul. Since Gambit and Cyclops were both unsure of this plan, they raised doubts. As the conversation continues, Ghost Rider appears. He says he was summoned by a sin in the village and of course the moment he says it, the demons escape. Make sure you pick it up for the big finish!
First off, I am really disappointed with the cover art. The cover just looks so messy and crude. If I felt that the art matched the story, I could forgive it but it just feels out of place. The story art is wonderfully done in comparison. The panels work well with the story and include a lot of detail work. Some of the fight scenes seem a bit busy but overall, the art worked really well. This story was an easy-to-read one-shot. It gave a good glimpse of the characters in the book, while featuring heavily on Dani. My only complaint is that they went with a story that feels very removed from the current arc. In the end, this serves as a X-Men morality tale, not a traditional X-Men battle.
I'll admit, I'm not reading X-Men, but the appearance of Ghost Rider really surprised me. I just don't think of those characters or worlds mixing. However, that is what makes it an interesting story. For lapsed or new readers, they know they are getting a special guest to add to the story. This is definitely great for lapsed readers but may confuse new readers who want more time spent on the core team.
This is a good story for lapsed or early X-Men readers because it gives them a small taste of what they have been missing. It may be a so-so choice for complete n00bs since it's not the standard storyline for X-Men.

Review: Uncanny X-Force #5.1

I'm sorry that the Uncanny X-Force #5.1 review is late but this was the hardest Point One review I have had to write.
The story is the continuation of the current storyline from the first few issues. This is a team of asassians made up of former X-Men characters; some I know and some I don't. In this issue, they appear to be getting revenge on those that attacked them first. There is also a side story of killing a child clone of Apocalypse. Needless to say, this was a very dark issue, in both story and art.
This issue did nothing for me. Didn't invoke any emotions, with the exception of being confused. Unlike the other Point One issues I read, I had no background on this issue. I do feel it may have been better if I knew the entire team. Since I have had very little exposure to mutants outside of the more popular ones, I had to rely on the story to drag me in. It referenced way too much without giving any detail. At the same time, it failed to make me invest in the characters. If the story had spent a little more time on the characters, it may have pulled me in rather than push me away.
This is a hard book to jump into when you just don't have any background. When reading this issue, I did feel like it would better suit a current Marvel reader who had read other X-Men books. The Point One initiative is supposed to reach not just in the dark readers like me but also consistent comic readers who just haven't read a certain title. In the latter, this fulfills their goal. However, since it is so low in the issue count, if you like this issue it won't be hard to catch up.
Coming up this week, we have another Point One double duty of Captain America #615.1 and Thor #620.1. Hopefully I will get even more excited for the movies!! Hopefully....

Marvel Trailer Time!
This week was a huge Marvel news week. The best part is the great trailers released. In case you missed them, check them out below.
Thor spot looks great. I am not a big Thor fan but this trailer definitely excited me for May!
Still excited for Captain America despite his bobblehead appearance in the beginning of this clip.
This is a great trailer and I can't wait to see what else comes out for X-Men: First Class.

Musical Friday - Make Mine Marvel
If you haven't heard, there have been some exciting developments at Marvel this week - Tom Brevoort was promoted to Senior Vice President of Publishing and Axel Alonso was named Editor-in-Chief. With Joe Quesada moving up to Chief Creative Officer, this is going to bring forth a new age of Marvel (cue dramatic music). Completing the trifecta of Marvel family news, Stan "The Man" Lee received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. To celebrate, we're dedicating this week to all things Marvel.
For Major Brevoort -
What I like about this video is that it manages to capture the intensity and scope of the story in just a few minutes while leaving you wanting more.
For Colonel Alonso -
Who would have thought Wolverine's Theme to be so mellow and Jewel-like?
And for Generalissimo Lee -
I think Spider-Man's animated evolution coupled with The Ramones is a wonderful way to illustrate the long journey Monsieur Lee has been on. He keeps getting bigger and better and rocks hard!
Congratulations everyone! You deserve it and we can't wait to see what you do next.

New York Comic Con 2010: Quickie Recap - Day 1
Day one of New York Comic Con is over and we are now slowly recovering and preparing for day two. We'll go into more details about the panels after NYCC but here's a brief recap of the day for the IGH team.
Getsuyobi and I got on to the exhibition hall around 12-12:15. We had all upgraded to the VIP passes and that alone made it worthwhile. Wilderowens, unfortunately, had to deal with her day job and joined us about an hour later. We walked around the somewhat empty floor, checking out the booths and picking up fun, free swag. Video games were tested, Yeti codes were looked for with blacklights over at the Animal Planet booth (check it out, it's awesome!), we got to see some amazing costumes and then we headed over to the Cultyard.
The Cultyard was cool. We saw a lot of great vendors. One of our favorites was the RockLove. Her jewelry is amazing. Wilderowens and I each got the Zydrate Gun necklace. We will be talking more about RockLove later on. We also got to make good on a promise to bring cookies to Marvel's own Jeff Suter. While on our quest to find him, we also got to meet Tim Dillon, which made me happy because I've been following him on Twitter for a long time and wanted to say hi. Then Wilderowens went in search for the elusive and coveted Frank Miller signing bracelet and Getsuyobi and I went downstairs to enjoy overpriced pretzels, sit and chat with tired Con goers and check out the panels.
This is the point of the adventure where we hit some troubled waters. Stan Lee was going to be doing a panel after one I had really wanted to go to. The plan had been to go to the X-Men panel and stay for Stan Lee. However, because the Stan Lee Guardian panel involved tickets to a signing with Stan, the room was to be emptied after X-Men. Since meeting Stan is a huge opportunity, the decision was made to give up X-Men and wait on line for Stan. Getsuyobi and I snagged a spot right at the front of the line and Wilderowens joined us shortly, her quest for the bracelet ending in disappointment. :( We camped out on the line for nearly two hours and made friends with several of the people around us, including the gal who will eventually become Slutty Big Bird and Deadpool.
The panel information says that in order to go to that signing, attendance at the Guardian panel was required, but no one knew how that was going to be handled. We had hoped that by getting on line early, they would be handing out tickets at the door and the first 60-100 people who got in would get the tickets. It turned out not to be the case. We were all let into the room and during the panel, told to check under our seats for a ticket. I don't know how we got so lucky but all three of us scored a ticket and we're going to meet Stan Lee on Sunday!!! We're so excited about this but do wish they had been a little clearer about what was going to happen.
After we got out and finished celebrating our ridiculously amazing good fortune, we headed over to catch the second half of the "Note to the Spiderman IV Movie People: Be True to Your Parker" with Tom DeFalco and, who I think was, Fred Van Lente. It was a fun fan forum-type panel that had a very funny crowd. Then we had hoped to learn more about how to be better bloggers at the Geek's Guide to Podcasting and Blogging panel but were disappointed to find it was a panel entirely about podcasting. Oh well. We were all starving at that point anyway, so we cut out early and went to Ben's Restaurant for dinner.
At Ben's, they were having a rehearsal for their new interactive comedy, The Bar Mitzvah of Harry Boychick. It was interesting trying to eat dinner with people coming up to you, trying to get you to participate but the best part was just as we were getting ready to head over to the Geek Girls Network tweet up, the drama started to unfold and getting out was a little difficult. We wanted to know what happened but we also really wanted to leave. It looks like it'll be a really fun show and we'll try to come back and see it.
The tweet up was held at Stitch Bar & Lounge and featured the music of Kirby Krackle. Lots of fun was had, though it was a little difficult to hear the person standing next to you. We got to meet new people and catch up with others we hadn't seen in a while. We then decided it was time for sleep and headed home, hoping to go to bed at a semi-respectable hour, so we'd be ready for day two of the con because day two is always more insane than day one. More people, more panels, more chaos, and more fun! We are doing our best to tweet when we can, so keep watch on our twitter @IGHInsider!
Stay tuned for Quickie Recap - Day 2! - Wysefyre
