Gamer Girl Manifesto

Well, this has been a fun week for gender stereotypes. Not only has Riley been circling the web, but this has gotten a lot of attention too.

To the men - as you can see, gamer girls come in all ages and types, and most importantly, don't want to be harassed for being a gamer girl. What they want is to play the game and kick some ass. So leave them alone and treat them as equals... at least until they pwn you. Which will happen. Often.

To the women - Keep speaking out because as more of you stand up and proudly proclaim your gamer status, the faster the novelty of a "gamer girl" will disappear, making everyone equal in the eyes of the game.

As we move into the new year, let's try and look past stereotypes of all kinds, not just gender. We're all human (unless you're secretly from an alien race) and we're all geeks. We should leave it at that.
