Video Friday! 8/12/11

Happy Friday one and all! Here are some great videos that popped up this week.

This remake of the classic Pinball Number 12 brought back some nice memories. It's one of the few old timey bits they still play on Sesame Street.

Cuddle like a pro with Uncle Jesse himself with the help of a very special friend.

I have been pretty vocal about my feelings on Google+, but I think this sums it up better.

I admit my love of Game of Thrones is starting to become a little consuming, but dagnabit, this is funny! Also NSFW!

And finally, it's the games of old dealing with the new games, Godfather style.

Til next time!

Sunday Links for April 17

This week brought a lot of endings to a lot of geek culture but hopefully this will just signal some new beginnings!

It was announced this week that Tokyopop is shutting down their North America Operations. Don't worry though, they will continue to operate in their Germany offices. I just want to say thank you for Sailor Moon!

Dark Horse Comics announced layoffs this week, with seven staff members being let go. On the heels of this announcement, Dark Horse finally announced the launch of their digital app with giving away free comics for every few hundred people that sign up.

Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark is ending today as it goes in for a major overhaul away from the vision of former director Julie Taymor. In case you are like me and haven't seen the original version, check out Wysefyre's review.

In a geek's dream come true, Virgin Galactic just put out a job opening for a Corporate Astronaut. Sorry to squash your dreams but you do need some flight training, so if you have some piloting experience and a Han Solo fetish, go ahead and apply. They are accepting applications until April 30.

In case you ever wondered what happened to Mario after you failed to make that jump over the pit, Geekologie has found out exactly what happened and it ain't pretty. Nintendo will never be the same.

Geeky Bad Habits

I know a lot of people that like to ask me about being a geek. Almost to the point of me being a little paranoid. I just can't hide my geekiness and I am proud of that. It has hurt me though. Professionally, it is bad when you start talking about how you need to leave work early to get to the comic book store in time. This got me thinking about how my geeky nature has brought on a few bad habits.

My Bad Habit
: I hum the Super Mario Theme song when I'm walking and dodging people on NYC streets.

In My Defense
: NYC streets can be so crowded, it is almost like surviving a video game. Plus, I only do it when I'm alone....

My Bad Habit
: I eventually find a way to start talking about my zombie escape plan with almost every person I meet.

In My Defense
: If you follow our tweets, you know that zombies freak me out! You have to be prepared!

My Bad Habit
: I turn into an adrenaline-high-ninja-psycho fan at cons.

In My Defense
: Everyone else either already is psychotic or they need to get out of my way.

I know, I know I'm a little crazy, and I have too much time for self reflection. In the end, I can't blame the geek community just because I'm so quirky. Still, I would like to know that I'm not the only crazy one out there! Please let me know if you have any geeky bad habits too!
