That's right, LEGO turns 60 today! It's amazing to hear it because this company hasn't really changed over the decades. This brick has been loved for generations past, and generations to come.
Looking back at the company, LEGO Group founder Ole Kirk Kristiansen launched the first bricks called Automatic Binding Bricks in 1949. In 1953, the name was changed to LEGO or “Mursten” which is Danish for LEGO bricks. The original bricks were hollow underneath, so they had limited clutch power unlike the bricks today. LEGO's early years had color bricks available that were white, red, yellow, blue and green. LEGO has definitely grown since! Check out this video to see the company in its early years!

Happy 3rd Birthday [IGH]!!!
That right, we have been around for three whole years! It's kinda crazy to think it has been three years when only yesterday Wysefyre and I were sitting down and working on that first post. So long ago and yet it was almost yesterday.
This past year has seen our family grow with the contributions of BatHobbit, MisterJackal, Poohbear and Reboot. We have also seen our fanbase explode, with tons of new geeks reading or meme hunting. Having you all on this crazy, wild ride makes it all worth it! Still, we like input. Tell us what you wanna see, or have us cover or film poorly with our phones and I can promise we will try to make it happen. (Yoda was wrong, there is try.)
Like every year, our anniversary is a precursor to NYCC, and we shall be there! Which means another con in a bag, so keep that in mind when you send us suggestions! [insertgeekhere] has been a blast to be a part of and I speak for the whole [IGH] fam when I say we can't wait to see what we come up with next!

The Man of Steel is Elderly and Jewish
I know you are kinda wondering what I'm getting at. Well, this past Sunday I attended a 75th Birthday Party for Superman at the Center for Jewish History. That's right, the very first issue of Action Comics came out in June of 1938. Wowza.

NYCC '12: Day 4 Highlights
Well, as soon as NY Comic Con starts, it ends. I admit, part of me is glad because I am just so tired. Still, I love all the time I spend hanging on the floor. As usual, we all split up at the con, running off into different directions.
Wysefyre fought against the hoards of people to get into the Javits Center in time to catch the Sesame Street show on the Varient Stage featuring Elmo and Gordon (Roscoe Orman). There were more adults at the show than kids, and everyone had fun. Then she met up with a friend, and wandered the floor for a few hours. Wysefyre also spoke with Ryan Sohmer and Lar DeSouza, and the nice people over at the CBDLF. Also, she saw a guy dressed as Zangief from Street Fighter 4 give an exceptionally long hug to another person and ate some Hi-Chew and Nerds.
Today I jumped onto the floor first thing to go swag hunting. I scored a lot of good items and can't wait to sort through it all. After that, I got a chance to sit down with animation king Bill Plympton to discuss his new and upcoming projects.
Then I spent the afternoon celebrating Spider-Man's 50th Birthday at the Marvel booth! Yeah, I know, who would have thunk it that Spidey is 50! One way that Marvel was celebrating is by trying to set a new world record for the most greetings on a card. I had a chance to chat with the Guinness World Record representative about the process to make a world record. I am happy to say that Marvel made it!
Then I went over to Artist's Alley, met up with Wysefyre, listened to Dan Slott talk, then spoke with Peter David, David Marquez and Jamal Igle. Wysefyre made her 7th or 8th trek across the Javitz, then we finally got some food.
We had a great time this year at NY Comic Con!!! This was such a great time to see old friends and meet new people. We are also so thankful for all the people that gave us some of their time. For now, we will be working hard to share all the great details we gained over the past few days. Make sure you stay tuned! Until next year!

Holy Frak! We Survived Another Year!!!
We're two years old today. Where did the time go? This year has been one heck of a ride. It's been full of ups and downs, and through it all, we've had you, the people who support us. To celebrate, I made this:

Best In Show
Editor’s Note: Since the amazing Christopher Guest celebrated his birthday this past Sunday, here is a look back at one of his amazing films. And no, it’s not Princess Bride! Our fav contributor Teacup takes a look at the hilarious Best In Show! Happy Birthday Chris!
I recently sat down to watch Best In Show, a comedy by Christopher Guest and Eugene Levy. Best in Show follows five dogs and each their eccentric owners on their quest to win 'Best in Show' at the fictional Mayflower Kennel Dog Club Show. Guest and Levy's other works include the cult classic This is Spinal Tap and A Mighty Wind.
The film is in documentary style, or, to be more specific, mockumentary style, parodying both the people who attend and compete in dog shows and the documentary style itself. Presenting the story in documentary style is a storytelling choice I'm not usually fond of, but Best in Show makes it work. The documentary style, in which the actors speak to the camera and help tell the story, makes a film more intimate, as if you're being spoken to by the actors on screen, creating a deeper connection between the audience and the actors. It also allows the filmmaker to treat their subject matter in a completely serious matter, which is great for a comedy. Each neurotic character trait and each awkward moment is intensified by the supposed 'real life' aspect of the 'documentary.' And Best In Show is definitely full of awkward moments and neurotic character traits.
